REGISTRATION FOR THIRD ANNUAL STRIDES FOR PEACE 8K, 5K RACE AND 2 MILE WALK NOW OPEN
April 21, 2016, CHICAGO, IL— Over 900 gun-shooting victims have been reported in the City of Chicago since the beginning of 2016, nearly double the rate that was reported for the same period last year. Chicago is currently on course to have more than 500 murders this year.
Strides for Peace (SFP), a registered 501(c)3 dedicated to funding not-for-profit, local anti-gun violence initiatives, has officially opened registration for its Third Annual 8/5K Race and Two Mile Walk, taking place at Soldier Field on October 6, 2016 at 7PM.
The charitable event is a platform to help raise funds for other non-profit organizations, large or small, that have dedicated anti-gun violence programs.
“This event is about lifting up existing anti-gun violence programs across the City, those who have seen major cuts in private or governmental funding, but are on the front lines of gun violence in Chicago and are working to change and save lives,” said Maggie Baczkowski, Founder of Strides for Peace.
How It Works
- The event is open to the public and welcomes individual runners, corporate teams and registered non-profits with active anti-gun violence programs.
- During registration, participants can start or join a Race Team and direct their full registration fee toward either a specific non-profit or SFP’s general fund.
- Following the event, SFP distributes 100% of the race entry fees and donations back to the non-profit that a Race Team has chosen to support. All undirected funds raised support SFP’s official Community Partners.
